What is Keratin Straigthening
Keratin straightening is the process of using a solution that contains glyoxylic acid to break through your hair’s bonds and reseal them in a straighter position. This makes it perfect for smoothing hair that is often frizzy and hard to straighten. Once the solution has been applied to your hair, our hair care experts will treat you to a blow dry before using a flat iron to seal the solution into your straightened hair.
Keratin straightened hair often lasts between three to six months and is compatible with most hair types. Unlike Japanese hair straightening, a keratin treatment is only a temporary solution, making it the perfect choice if you would like to see how you look with a straight perm for a few months. It is also great if you want to boost your hair’s shine, reduce frizz, or simply love the look of straightened hair.
Our Keratin Smoothing Process
If you’ve decided that our keratin hair smoothing treatments are right for you, our hair specialists will sit down with you and walk you through the process. This includes making sure your hair is suitable for a keratin treatment and detailing the benefits your hair will receive from treatment. We then begin the process of applying our keratin treatments to your hair to create your ideal straight perm.
The keratin straightening process typically takes around two hours, though may run longer or shorter depending on your hair. In comparison to Japanese hair straightening, which alters the natural hair bond, your keratin treatment instead relaxes waves and curls to give you silky smooth hair.
Once our keratin hair smoothing treatments have been applied, we’ll let it sit for 15 minutes so it can be absorbed into your hair. We then follow it up with a quick rinse and blow dry before a final application of shampoo and leave-in treatment.
